Software testing is finally taking center stage — and you’re invited. Testing Hackathon 2025, hosted by Pertunia Tladi in partnership with Datamate Consulting, GirlCode Group, and the University of Johannesburg’s School of Consumer Intelligence and Information Systems (SCiiS) and Expleo Group, promises to be one of the most exciting innovation events of the year.
Set across two key dates — an Ideathon on 30 August 2025 and the Hack Day on 20–21 September 2025 — the hackathon will take place at UJ’s Auckland Park campus and is open to testers, students, developers, designers, and AI enthusiasts.
With the theme “Unleashing African Innovation through AI & Testing Excellence”, the event invites participants to dig deep into test automation, performance engineering, DevOps, data-driven testing, and AI-powered quality assurance.
“This hackathon is more than just about building tech — it’s about shining a light on the role testing plays in innovation, product quality, and trust in the African tech ecosystem,” says the organizing team.
Why Join?
While many hackathons focus on development, Testing Hackathon 2025 is flipping the script by making software testing the star. Whether you’re just starting out or already deep in the tech space, this is your opportunity to solve real-world challenges, collaborate, and be recognized.
All participants also receive free access to an online course from WeThinkCode on using GenAI to enhance development and testing — from debugging and documentation to AI-assisted refactoring.
